Botulinum toxin is a neurotoxin made by Clostridium botulinum. It alters the function of certain neurotransmitters. These are chemicals in the body that instruct the body to react in a certain way. TOX blocks the neurotransmitter that tells the sweat glands to activate, to control sweating in the injection area.
Dysport is a local muscle relaxant (or neuromuscular blocking agent) adapted from the botulinum neuromodulator type-A and is used in aesthetic indications.
Xeomin® is made through a unique precision manufacturing process called XTRACT Technology™, that uses two filtration steps to isolate the therapeutic component of the molecule and removes the complexing/unnecessary proteins that don’t play an active role in treatment. Xeomin® is a double filtered neurotoxin.
It generally takes 7 to 14 days to take full effect. It’s best to avoid alcohol starting at least 1 week before the procedure. You should also stop taking aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications 2 weeks before treatment to help prevent bruising.
Avoid rubbing the injection site for 24 hours so you don’t spread the TOX to another area.
