TOX masseter or TMJ treatment is a cosmetic procedure that involves injecting TOX into the masseter muscle of the jaw to reduce the appearance of a square-shaped face or alleviate symptoms of temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ). The masseter muscle is responsible for chewing and clenching, but when it becomes overactive, it can cause pain, tension headaches, and even tooth grinding. By injecting TOX into this muscle, it weakens and relaxes the muscle, resulting in a softer and more oval-shaped face, as well as relieving the symptoms of TMJ.

Dysport is a local muscle relaxant (or neuromuscular blocking agent) adapted from the botulinum neuromodulator type-A and is used in aesthetic indications.

Xeomin® is made through a unique precision manufacturing process called XTRACT Technology™, that uses two filtration steps to isolate the therapeutic component of the molecule and removes the complexing/unnecessary proteins that don’t play an active role in treatment. Xeomin® is a double filtered neurotoxin.

It generally takes 7 to 14 days to take full effect. It’s best to avoid alcohol starting at least 1 week before the procedure. You should also stop taking aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications 2 weeks before treatment to help prevent bruising.

Avoid rubbing the injection site for 24 hours so you don’t spread the TOX to another area.
