Kybella is an injectable medication made up of deoxycholic acid. It is used to target and eliminate unwanted fat cells in the chin area, reducing the appearance of under-chin fullness commonly referred to as “double chin”. The active ingredient in the formula dissolves the connections between fat cells, causing them to be released from surrounding tissue. Over time, the fat cells are permanently eliminated, resulting in a more contoured, defined chin area.
Kybella can be administered in a series of up to six treatments, typically spaced four weeks apart. Each treatment session typically takes around 20 minutes and requires little to no downtime.
Most people experience minor side effects such as swelling, redness, and soreness, but these usually subside quickly. Patients can expect to see long-lasting results after the completion of their treatment cycle.
